There's a new villain in town on ABC'S Once Upon a Time.
Colin O'Donoghue really rocks the pirate look in the character of charismatic Captain Hook, a man on a quest of revenge against Rumpelstilskin. Of course, with Valentine's Day coming, this is the ideal time to finally discuss the new "ship" he brought to the show.
First things first, all ships must have a name. This one is "Captain Swan"... It's not great in my opinion. I liked SHook much better, you know? Because he "makes her heart tremble". But I was outvoted and Captain Swan it is. sigh. I think Hook has great potential as a love interest even if we haven't seen many Captain Swan moments since the episode where they ever met.
I am one of those who were incredibly shocked when Graham died within the first episodes of the series. Then August arrived and we had another candidate for Emma. But has anyone seen August recently? He reunited with his father and disappeared from the story!
Now we get to season 2 and we're all incredibly anxious to see what other hottie is waiting for her and in enter Hook AND Neal. Of course putting them both in the same episode was a treat to watch but was it the greatest decision to make? How can you appreciate watching Emma and Neal fall in love when every few minutes an incredibly hot guy makes innapropriate comments to her in real time? Plus they presented two bad boys at the same time! A thing a show should never do. One inevitably end up labelled as the "good guy" and loses some of his appeal.
"Ah, so you've heard of me!"
It's funny how smug he sounds about being a known criminal! And doesn't Emma wonder if he ever fed children to crocodiles like in the story? Although he seems to emphatize with the Lost Boys of Neverland.
I don't think Hook will ever become a mortal enemy of Emma, even if she did abandon him up the beanstock. I just wonder how he will react if Neal turns out to be Baelfire, Rumpelstilskin's son. Will he go after Henry's father? He has to be somewhat conflicted about the whole situation. I mean, yes, Gold killed Milah so he's definitely blacklisted but what does he think of his own actions? He took a woman on his ship, and never mind the fact that he was in love with her, he still left a boy with a poor excuse for a father. He essentially made him an orphan. Does he really want history to repeat itself? Does he really want to be as bad as The Dark One? He seems to think of himself as above that kind of behavior so far : he gave Aurora's heart back when he was the one to take it so he obviously regretted that he had to do the same thing that was done to the love of his life.
But the big question is : How far will Hook go to get what he wants?
What do you think of Emma and Hook?
